Dear All,

This is my post is to announce my new blog... The Rebelution.... "rebelution: (reb'el lu shen) n. 1 a dramatic and wide-spread change resulting from revolt against the tyranny of lies by rebels armed with the weapons of knowledge, wisdom, and truth." This blog is a place for me to work out my own thoughts regarding what my generation can do to cause a rebelution in the United States. I hope that it will become a rallying-point for those rebels who wish to join the cause, and I personally invite you to inspect, critique, and participate in all that ensues.

My mind is currently occupied with questions such as, "How can we take advantage the current political and social climates, of technology and new methods of collaboration to impact the world for Christ? What do we need to know about our world? What do we need to know about ourselves? What do we need to know about our God?" I have started this blog in hopes of answering these and similar questions.

Because the knowledge necessary to carry out a rebelution is multi-faceted I will most likely cover a myriad of topics. I am currently writing out (segment-by-segment) my understanding (based on my reading) of the impact technology will have on our world, and specifically on the my generation within the United States. I've also posted a challenge for Godly character and solid trust in God's grace and strength as necessary prerequisites to a successful rebelution. Future topics will include the state of our government schools, strategies for influencing society, evangelism for the 21st century, and whatever else gains my attention.

I am a firm believer in the benefits of collaboration and would love your feedback and support. Some of you already host/write your own blogs, and I would encourage others to join us as well. Together I believe we can soar above and beyond what many think possible. As Alex aptly put it: "None of us, with out limited schedules and busy lives, can be more than a drop in the ocean-sized bucket of the internet community . . . but together, unified in Christ and through His grace, I believe we can fill a gap that needs to be filled."

Fighting The Fight Because Christ Won The War,

Another Poem from Brett Harris . . . This, a fourteen year-old's first attempt . . . Noticing a recurring theme of love . . .

winter roses by brett harris

innocent romance blossoms in winter
like the sunset of ages, it’s unseasonably rare.
with the sun shining down on the whiteness of purity
till true lovers meet, and springs’ in the air.

winter roses, search and not find me
touch me gently, thorns i do have.
don’t think me cold because of my season
spring will soon come and with it true love.

contrast follows innocent’s search for
love in purity, roses in snow.
will true love follow innocent’s blossom?
spring will soon see, for seasons bring change.

winter roses, search and not find me
touch me gently, thorns i do have.
don’t think me cold because of my season
spring will soon come and with it true love.

innocence’s beauty, tragedy strikes down
petals fading, innocence lost
lovers still search for true love in vain
but true love asks for innocence again.

winter roses, search and not find me
touch me gently, thorns i do have.
don’t think me cold because of my season
spring will soon come and with it true love.

P.S. These last two posts are my Xanga quota for the next 4 months.

When A Glance Was INNOCENT . . .

There once was a time when a glance was innocent,
Touch was spontaneous,
Hugs were not planned.
Where young boys and girls found mere friendship fulfilling,
Perfectly satisfying, perfectly grand.

And once where you stood or you sat didn't matter,
You stood with some people,
You sat with some friends.
Now standing is done in two-by-two couples,
And sitting just copies this popular trend.

There once was a time with no competition,
No jealous anger,
And nothing to win.
Now glances, swing dances, emails, and IMs,
Are counted as triumphs and miniature wins.

Yes, young girls are now women, and young boys are now men,
The girls surpass beautiful,
The boys rate at 10.
Yet I remember a time when a glance was innocent,
And I long to go back to when friends were just friends.

The Value of a Smile

It costs nothing, but creates much.

It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give.

It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None are so rich they can get along without it, and none so poor but are richer for its benefits.

It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign of friends.

It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and Nature's best antidote for trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is no earthly good to anybody till it is given away.

And if in the rush of life one of your friends should be too tired to give you a smile, may I ask you to leave them one of yours?

For nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none left to give.
